Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating a MateSwaps account or using the MateSwaps service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use MateSwaps. By signing up you confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. The Service

MateSwaps is a community marketplace that connects neighbours to swap skills, tools and time. MateSwaps is not a party to any swap, agreement or transaction between users. We do not verify the identity, skills, qualifications or items offered by any user, and we do not guarantee outcomes, quality, safety or legality of any swap.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide accurate profile and listing information.
• Treat other users respectfully and lawfully at all times.
• Meet in safe, public places where possible and follow our safety guidance.
• Comply with all applicable local, national and international laws.
• Not use the Service for illegal, harmful or fraudulent activity.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You must not harass, threaten or discriminate against other users; post false, misleading or infringing content; attempt to circumvent fees or safety features; or use automated tools to access the Service.

6. Content

You retain ownership of content you post but grant MateSwaps a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating the Service.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. MateSwaps is not responsible for the conduct of any user or the outcome of any swap. You use the Service at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MateSwaps and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

8a. Platform Fees

When a swap includes a cash component processed through MateSwaps, a platform fee of 10% applies to the cash portion. The exact fee is shown before any payment is confirmed. Promoted posts and Premium features are subject to separate fees disclosed at purchase. All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these Terms or for any conduct we reasonably believe harms the Service or its users.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
